who we are

we are the Ewbanks!

We live in lovely Portland, Oregon with our two cats and a hungry travel bug. Adventures big and small delight us! One of us was a long-time art history professor who decided to retire/resign and take a fork in the road down a new, exciting path. Over the past 20+ years, friends and family, students and colleagues, have wanted travel recommendations about what to see and do, where to eat, what cultural activities are a must, how to beat the crowds, and so forth.

In the past 5 years, we also get requests for how to take better photographs and even how to process and edit them once a trip is over—we've gotten pretty good at this (though, there is always room for growth!).

With kids, it has become an even more challenging puzzle to travel, but a wonderful one. Starting this website seemed like a fun, useful way to help others beyond just the folks we know in person.

We thought it would be fun to start a blog that focuses on these travel adventures, especially with our two kids who love to hop in the car or on a plane, walk down the mountain path, or jump into water. Our hope is that there is something here for everyone!
